Theory of Mind Development in Deaf Children: A Nonverbal Test of False-Belief Understanding.
Figueras-Costa, Berta; Harris, Paul
Journal of Deaf Studies and Deaf Education, v6 n2 p92-102 Spr 2001
Twenty-one children (ages 4-11) prelingually deaf and orally trained, were tested with verbal and nonverbal versions of a false-belief task. Children did not perform above chance in the verbal task. The nonverbal task significantly facilitated performance, however, only older children performed above change in the nonverbal false-belief tests. (Contains references.) (Author/CR)
