Examines unclear and sometimes erroneous notions about multicultural education (e.g., it is the same as ethnic studies and it is an effort to affect college admissions), discussing: the relationship of multicultural education to education in general; the theoretical basis of the field; the relationship between multicultural education and the social foundations of education; and the goals of multicultural education.
