Internalising and Externalising Children's Behaviour Problems in Britain and the US: Relationships to Family Resources.
McCulloch, Andrew; Wiggins, Richard D.; Joshi, Heather E.; Sachdev, Darshan
Children & Society, v14 n5 p368-83 Nov 2000
This study examined relationships between children's experiences of family change, cognitive ability, and family adversity and the prevalence of behavior problems, comparing British and US children. Among other findings, cognitive scores decreased with increasing externalizing behavior problems, and in Britain, these were related to family adversity. It was suggested that relieving economic deprivation would help improve children's behavioral outcomes. (JPB)
