Developmental Antecedents to Adolescents' Occupational Knowledge: A 17-Year Prospective Study.
Jordan, Thomas E.; Pope, Mark K.
Journal of Vocational Behavior, v58 n2 p279-92 Apr 2001
From case histories of 74 adolescents, six constructs (family, dynamic, cognitive, somatic, generic, developmental) were distilled to explain how their occupational knowledge is formed. The developmental process of knowledge acquisition is influenced by family circumstances at birth, cognitive-conceptual attainment in preschool, and vocabulary in adolescence.
