Cultural Resources and Psychological Adjustment of African American Children: Effects of Spirituality and Racial Attribution.
Christian, Marcelle D.; Barbarin, Oscar A.
Journal of Black Psychology, v27 n1 p43-63 Feb 2001
Explored the relationship of family sociocultural resources to adjustment among low-income African American children. Parent surveys examined sociodemographic variables, child behavior, and parent religiosity. Results indicated that children of regular church attenders had fewer behavior problems than those who attended less frequently. The use of racial attributions to explain negative life outcomes was related to more frequent behavior problems. (SM)
