Disabling Spatialities and the Regulation of a Visible Secret.
Hawkesworth, Marian
Urban Studies, v38 n2 p299-318 Feb 2001
Participants in this study testify that acne alterations to the skin often bring about changes in spatial practices or body movements on account of society's aesthetic prejudices regarding facial disfigurement. Examines the urban geographies of people distinguished by their perceived facial differences. Explains that problems of exclusion arise from the attitudinal environment or places which emphasize people's looks. (SM)
