Adapting Curriculum to Student Diversity: Patterns and Perceptions among Alternate-Route and College-based Teachers.
Sawyer, Richard D.
Urban Review, v32 n4 p343-63 Dec 2000
Examined perceptions of alternate-route and college-prepared teachers about adapting mathematics and writing curriculum to student diversity. Surveys and interviews indicated that while most teachers favored curriculum adaptation in general, commitment to these beliefs was inconsistent. Both groups preferred to discuss curriculum adaptation in relation to individual student characteristics and were unwilling to construct curriculum to students' cultural values. (SM)
