Explored experiences of African American students in a predominantly white university through hermeneutic interviews. Data revealed that students feel the university does not truly care about them as Black students, particularly because it does not solicit or respond to their concerns. Students also struggle to negotiate their participation in two different student communities, White and Black. (EV)
