Chicana/o Studies and Anthropology: The Dialogue That Never Was.
Davalos, KarenMary
Aztlan: A Journal of Chicano Studies, v23 n2 p13-45 Fall 1998
Argues that, by initiating a critique of the misrepresentations of Mexican Americans by established anthropologists, Chicana/o scholars anticipated a new anthropology and the problems of an apolitical postmodernism. Examines the challenges offered by Chicana feminists. Suggests that all these dialogues developed because of inequalities within the "academy" and in the larger society. (Contains 77 references.)
