Young Children's Understanding of Perception, Desire, and Emotion.
Wellman, Henry M.; Phillips, Ann T.; Rodriguez, Thomas
Child Development, v71 n4 p895-912 Jul-Aug 2000
Three studies investigated toddlers' judgments and communications about how desires, perceptions, and emotions connect in people's lives and minds. Findings indicated that in appropriate circumstances, young children realized that a person's perception of desirable or undesirable objects leads to related emotional experiences. Children's conversations revealed that perceptual mental states are pivotal to connections between perception, desire, and emotion. (Author/KB)
