A Group Learning Intervention into How Women Learn Empathy in Prison.
Kilgore, Deborah W.
Adult Education Quarterly, v51 n2 p146-64 Feb 2001
A study of 24 incarcerated women participating in a learning group indicated that empathic practices used by prisoners were typically limited to cognitive aspects, whereas the learning group developed a repertoire of affective practices. Developing this kind of empathy better prepares incarcerated women for social relations outside the prison. (Contains 32 references.) (SK)
