Effects of Communication Direction on Job Performance and Satisfaction: A Moderated Regression Analysis.
Goris, Jose R.; Vaught, Bobby C.; Pettit, John D., Jr.
Journal of Business Communication, v37 n4 p348-68 Oct 2000
Finds that: high levels of both job performance and job satisfaction result from a match between individual needs for growth and job characteristics; upward and lateral communication do not usually affect job performance and job satisfaction when high individual-job congruence exist; and downward communication sometimes affects job performance more than job satisfaction when low levels of individual-job congruence exist.
