Explores the prevalence and consequences of self-reported sexual abuse among 186 practitioners of sadomasochistic sex. Results show that the prevalence of self-reported sexual abuse was higher among the participants as compared to the general Finnish population norms. Participants were also more likely to have attempted suicide, sought psychological support, and visited a physician due to physical injuries. (Contains 33 references and 1 table.) (Author/GCP)
