Not Just the Usual Cast of Characteristics: Using Personality To Predict College Performance and Retention.
Tross, Stuart A.; Harper, Jeffrey P.; Osher, Lewis W.; Kneidinger, Linda M.
Journal of College Student Development, v41 n3 p323-34 May-Jun 2000
Investigates the ability of personality characteristics (achievement, conscientiousness, and resiliency), high school GPA, and Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) score to predict cumulative college GPA and retention (N=844). In predicting college GPA, conscientiousness added significant incremental variance to high school GPA and SAT. Conscientiousness also significantly predicted college retention.
