Restricting Opportunities To be Active During School Time: Do Children Compensate by Increasing Physical Activity Levels After School?
Dale, Darren; Corbin, Charles B.; Dale, Kathleen S.
Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, v71 n3 p240-48 Sep 2000
Examined whether elementary students would compensate for restricted physical activity during school hours by increasing activity levels after school. Students wore an accelerometer monitor for 4 consecutive days. Overall, students did not compensate for sedentary school days by increasing their physical activity levels after school. Activity levels were higher on days where there was more physical activity during school. (SM)
