Language Deficits in Dyslexic Children: Speech Perception, Phonology, and Morphology.
Joanisse, Marc F.; Manis, Franklin R.; Keating, Patricia; Seidenberg, Mark S.
Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, v77 n1 p30-60 Sep 2000
This study investigated the relationship between dyslexia and speech perception, phonology, and morphology among 7-, 8- and 9-year-olds. Findings indicated that only the developmentally language impaired showed clear speech perception deficits. Phonological dyslexics and developmentally language impaired showed inflectional morphology difficulties. Globally delayed dyslexics' reading and language skills closely matched those of younger normal readers. (Author/KB)
