Race-based Neighbourhood Projection: A Proposed Framework for Understanding New Data on Racial Integration.
Ellen, Ingrid Gould
Urban Studies, v37 n9 p1513-33 Aug 2000
The race-based neighborhood projection hypothesis holds that in choosing neighborhoods, people care less about present racial composition then expectations for future neighborhood conditions. Using data linking households to their neighborhoods, the paper estimates exit and entry models and constructs a simulation model that predicts racial change in different communities, concluding that the results are consistent with the hypothesis.
