Turning the Contradictions of Competence: Competency-based Training and beyond.
Mulcahy, Dianne
Journal of Vocational Education & Training: The Vocational Aspect of Education, v52 n2 p259-80 2000
Competency-based training is not a singular model; it embeds radically different conceptions of competence, depending on whether delivery and assessment of training incorporate industry standards. Models that maintain a tension between the outcomes and processes of education and training, rather than a focus solely on outcomes, are most appropriate for vocational education. (SK)
