Children's Relationships with Classmates: A Comprehensive Analysis of Friendship Nominations and Liking.

Examined first- through sixth-graders' liking for all classmates based on four types of friendship nominations. Found that children liked classmates they nominated more than classmates they did not nominate, mutual friends more than unilateral given friends, and unilateral received friends more than "not friends." Concluded that children were aware of friendship reciprocity as evidenced by differential liking. (Author/KB)
