Peer Involvement in Bullying: Insights and Challenges for Intervention.

Examines peer processes that occur during bullying episodes on a school playground. Videotape recordings determined: peers spent 54% of their time reinforcing bullies by passively watching, 21% actively modeling bullies, and 25% intervening on behalf of victims. Older boys were more likely to join with the bully, while girls were more likely to intervene on behalf of victims. (Author/JDM)
