Internal and External Stress Factors Associated with the Identity Development of Transgendered Youth.
Burgess, Christian
Journal of Gay & Lesbian Social Services, v10 n3-4 p35-47 1999
Presents an alternative to the traditional view that transgendered youth suffer from a disorder, discussing internal and external stress factors that lead them to seek help. Social services professionals must understand such factors in order to make full assessments of their clients' issues and help change various societal pressures so that more transgendered youth can attain peaceful identity integration.
