Children's Language of Sexuality in Child Sexual Abuse Investigations: A Brief Report.
Cheung, Monit
Journal of Child Sexual Abuse, v8 n3 p65-84 1999
Study analyzed interviews to identify children's terminology of private body parts and sexual abuse activity. "Touching" was the most frequently used term in describing sexual parts and/or sexual abuse. Children's choice of words can imply various meanings; the interview should clarify the meaning of slang terms. Recommends interviewers use "what" and "how" questions to clarify word meaning.
