Responses to Interactive Stress: Infants Who Are Deaf or Hearing.
Koester, Lynne Sanford; Meadow-Orlans, Kathryn P.
American Annals of the Deaf, v144 n5 p395-403 Dec 1999
Nineteen infants with deafness and 19 infants who are hearing were observed during face-to-face interactions with their hearing mothers. Mother-identified "difficult" infants with deafness displayed significantly more repetitive activity during normal interaction and significantly more gaze aversion during a still-face episode, compared to "easy" babies with deafness and hearing babies.
