Law Enforcement Hiring Practices and Narrowing the Applicant Pool: A Case Study.
Decker, Lisa Kay; Huckabee, Robert G.
Journal of Offender Rehabilitation, v29 n3/4 p57-70 1999
Reports on a case study that compares police officers hired by a large metropolitan police department (n=190) with a group of all applicants (n=1,545). The study found that many characteristics appeared with nearly the same frequencies in both groups. However, there were differences as to age, education, and number of white females and number of black females. (Author/MKA)
