Thinking of School and Learning in a Multicultural Context: A Comparison of Canadian Teachers and Japanese Parents.

Used semi-structured interviews to examine a grounded theory of beliefs that Canadian teachers and Japanese immigrant parents hold regarding schooling and learning. Results indicate that the participants' belief systems can consist of three layers: the general belief system concerning school and learning; opinions regarding learning difficulties; and opinions concerning actions to take in order to solve the difficulties.
