Antecedent Factors Differentiating Women and Men in Science/Nonscience Careers.
Farmer, Helen S.; Wardrop, James L.; Rotella, Susanne C.
Psychology of Women Quarterly, v23 n4 p763-80 Dec 1999
Examined antecedent factors that would differentiate young adults who chose science careers from those who did not. Surveyed participants from the Career Motivation and Achievement Planning study (which surveyed ninth and twelfth graders). Antecedent factors included ethnicity; aspiring to higher prestige careers; and being motivated to take and taking elective science courses. Some sex differences were evident. (SM)
