Why Teachers Are Absent: An Examination of Teacher Absences in Broward County Public Schools.
Green, Laura R.; Blasik, Katherine A.; Varela-Russo, Carmen
ERS Spectrum, v17 n4 p14-20 Fall 1999
An absenteeism study found that the largest percentage of teacher absences was due to professional development activities, illness, and vacant positions. High schools had lower absence rates than elementary and middle schools and centers. Absenteeism was also related to number of kids eligible for free-lunch programs. (Contains 20 references.) (MLH)
