Intrafamilial Sexual Abuse: What We Think We Know about Mothers, and Implications for Intervention.
Crawford, Sharon L.
Journal of Child Sexual Abuse, v7 n3 p55-72 1999
Professional interventions have been shaped negatively by clinical paradigms about the role of mothers in families where intrafamilial sexual abuse has occurred. More recent empirical research suggests these mothers are diverse, that explanations of their behavior are complex and multifaceted, and their abilities to provide support for their abused children must be assessed before appropriate, effective interventions can be chosen.
