Challenges common beliefs about academic achievement differences between boys and girls. Analysis of gendered results from examinations and statutory assessments of all Welsh students from 1992-97 indicated that girls had higher achievement in certain subjects at certain levels, but no gender gaps existed in other subjects. Achievement gaps were static or declining in all but the higher levels of attainment. (SM)
