Family, Religiosity, and the Risk of Adolescent Drug Use.
Bahr, Stephen J.; Maughan, Suzanne L.; Marcos, Anastasios C.; Li, Bingdao
Journal of Marriage and the Family, v60 n4 p979-92 Nov 1998
Uses data from a random sample of 13,250 adolescents. Results show that mother/adolescent bonding and family drug problems have modest, indirect effects on the likelihood of adolescent drug use; father/adolescent bonding, parental monitoring, and family aggression have relatively weak effects on adolescent drug use; and religious students do not tend to use drugs or have close friends who do.
