Deregulating Middle School Programs while Slashing Budgets: The Florida Story.
Shockley, Robert E.; Irvin, Judith L.
Middle School Journal, v26 n4 p57-60 Mar 1995
Documents growth of Florida middle school programs/practices and discusses initial trends following a major shift in legislation. Concludes that mandated middle school legislation and categorical funding proved beneficial in initiating widespread change in middle level schools. Severe budget cuts and loss of categorical funding threaten progress in many districts although site-based management contributes to continued growth potential. (KB)
