Increasing the Social Interactions of Preschool Children with Disabilities during Mealtimes: The Effects of an Interactive Placemat Game.
Spohn, Jennifer Robinson; Timko, Tamara C.; Sainato, Diane M.
Education and Treatment of Children, v22 n1 p1-18 Feb 1999
Three preschool children with developmental disabilities participated in a social-skills intervention involving use of collage placemats with pictures to foster turn-taking verbal interactions with peers at the lunch table. The intervention resulted in doubling the rate of interactions with peers. Generalization to regular lunchtime occurred when the game placemats were used in that setting. (Author/DB)
