A study involving 13 subjects (ages 9 to 11) identified with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and placed on Ritalin between first and second grade, found cognitive and achievement scores were lower before medication, dosage levels tended to increase over time, and few of the children in general-education classes received supplementary educational programs.
