Most of 191 finance faculty surveyed (19% response) perceived their students to be weak in writing, verbal, and math skills. Compared to a 1989 study, the proportion of faculty considering students unprepared for college rose from 33.8% to 42%, and the number of those who thought students were motivated dropped from 47.3% to 30%.
