Does Parental Conflict Explain Why Divorce Is Negatively Associated with Child Welfare?
Hanson, Thomas L.
Social Forces, v77 n4 p1283-1316 Jun 1999
Analysis of National Survey of Families and Households data suggests that parental conflict is partly responsible for negative associations between divorce and child welfare (academic achievement, other school-related variables, delinquency, health, and psychological well-being). In some areas, marital relations prior to divorce apparently helps determine whether divorce consequences for children are harmful. Contains 35 references. (Author/SV)
