The Stanley Segal Award: Do Social Stories Benefit Children with Autism in Mainstream Primary Schools?
Rowe, Carol
British Journal of Special Education, v26 n1 p12-14 Mar 1999
This award-winning article describes a research project which evaluated use of "social stories" with primary-grade children who have autism. Social stories are written to describe social situations the child finds difficult and include descriptive sentences which describe the situation, perspective sentences which explain the reactions of others, and directive sentences which tell the child how to behave.
