Dismayed about student violence, absenteeism, and professional isolation, core teachers at a Puerto Rico Department-of-Defense-dependent high school formed a school environment committee. They performed a needs assessment, formally adopted the improvement process, established a risk-free environment, revised the discipline code, and developed a tracking/evaluation process.
