The Effects of Group Racial Composition on Job Satisfaction, Organizational Commitment, and Career Commitment.
Mueller, Charles W.; Finley, Ashley; Iverson, Roderick D.; Price, James L.
Work and Occupations: An International Sociological Journal, v26 n2 p187-219 May 1999
A study of the racial composition of teachers and students in 405 schools found black teachers less affected by being in the minority in their schools. In contexts where others are of the same race, white teachers experience greater coworker support, less role conflict, more autonomy, and adequate resources. Commitment to teaching career is not affected by school racial composition. (SK)
