Moderating Effects of Client Attachment on the Counselor Experience/Working Alliance Relationship.
Kivlighan, Dennis M., Jr.; Patton, Michael J.; Foote, David
Journal of Counseling Psychology, v45 n3 p274-78 Jul 1998
The relationship between counselor experience and client-perceived working alliance is examined (N=40 clients). Client attachment, specifically comfort with intimacy, moderated the relationship between experience and working alliance. Because previous research found interaction effects, discussion focuses on the moderating factors relating to counselor/client relationships. (Author/EMK)
