Implications for Knowledge Production and Careers in Science.
Gaddy, Catherine D.
New Directions for Higher Education, n104 p61-69 Win 1998
Increasing proportions of science and engineering faculty are in non-tenure-track positions. While part-time and other flexible scheduling options can be beneficial in meeting individual and departmental needs, resulting changes affect faculty careers, students, and the quality of academic research. Recommendations for improving the situation are offered for advising, departmental operations, tracking of graduates, professional societies, and graduate students. (MSE)
