Internship Ratings as a Validity Outcome Measure for an Evaluation System To Identify Inadequate Clerkship Performance.
Lavin, Bruce; Pangaro, Louis
Academic Medicine, v73 n9 p998-1002 Sep 1998
A study investigated whether a third-year medical clerkship evaluation system validly predicted students' later performance ratings during internships. Internship ratings of students needing remediation from 1986 to 1993 were compared with those of students voluntarily choosing fourth-year medicine. Results indicate the medicine clerkship evaluation process predicted problems during internships, and internship ratings supported this predictive validity. (Author/MSE)
