Sensitivity to Grammatical Morphemes in Children with Specific Language Impairment.
McNamara, Mary; Carter, Allyson; McIntosh, Bonnie; Gerken, LouAnn
Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research, v41 n5 p1147-57 Oct 1998
Two experiments examined the sensitivity of children (ages 3 to 5) with specific language impairment (SLI) and normally developing children to grammatical morphemes, such as articles and auxiliary verbs. Findings indicated that the children with SLI were sensitive to grammatical morphemes, and that comprehension failure may reflect short-term memory problems. (Author/DB)
