Counselor Helping Model, Participant Ethnicity and Acculturation Level, and Perceived Counselor Credibility.
Ruelas, Shelley R.; Atkinson, Donald R.; Ramos-Sanchez, Lucila
Journal of Counseling Psychology, v45 n1 p98-103 Jan 1998
Relationships between participant ethnicity, acculturation level, counselor model of helping, and ratings of counselor credibility were examined using an analogue research design (N=199). Results suggest that aspects of Mexican American culture support the use of, rather than underutilize, counseling services. Implications for counselors and suggestions for future research are explored. (Author/EMK)
