Student Gender and the Probability of Referral for Counselling in a College of Further Education.
Scarbrough, Alexandrina; Hicks, Carolyn
British Journal of Guidance and Counselling, v26 n2 p225-36 May 1998
A pilot study investigated whether college tutors' perceptions of students' counseling needs are dependent on the gender of the student (N=25). Results are presented for urgency of referral need in relation to diagnosis, sex, and perceived nature of the problem. Possible sex-role stereotyping and access to services are discussed.
