Maternal Interpretation During Interaction with Infants Who Have Down Syndrome.
Baird, Samera M.; Ingram, Rebecca; Peterson, JoEllyn
Infant-Toddler Intervention: The Transdisciplinary Journal, v8 n2 p149-73 Jun 1998
In this study of maternal interpretations of infant behaviors, seven mothers of infants with Down syndrome identified 18 of 22 subcategories of potentially meaningful infant behavior previously identified by mothers of typically developing infants. These seven mothers also identified an additional category: developmental status-abilities. Implications for early intervention are discussed. (Author/DB)
