Reform of teacher education involves reformulation and reconceptualization, not a simple patch-up. Reform means moving away from the college-of-education, research-driven approach to the closer-to-the-source public schools. Reform-minded people must pursue long-term solutions, concentrate on reforming university-based teacher educators, and realize that teacher education is not a generalizable monolith.
