Declining Faculty Availability to Students is the Problem--But Tenure is Not the Explanation.
Benjamin, Ernst
American Behavioral Scientist, v41 n5 p716-35 Feb 1998
Challenges the argument that tenure fosters indifference to student learning. Draws on Department of Education data to show that inadequate faculty involvement with students primarily reflects the declining numbers of tenure track faculty relative to the increasing number of students. Argues that full-time tenure track faculty are more productive than part-timers. (MJP)
