General Education Teachers' Assumptions about Learning and Students with Learning Disabilities: Design-of-Instruction Analysis.
Simmons, Deborah C.; Kameenui, Edward J.; Chard, David J.
Learning Disability Quarterly, v21 n1 p6-21 Win 1998
This study examined the theoretical, personal, and instructional assumptions about students with learning disabilities of 29 general elementary-level educators using a design-of-instruction and instructional efficacy framework. Teachers emphasized within-learner variables, questioned the adequacy of commercial curricular programs for these students, and felt competent to rectify the limitations of such programs. (Author/DB)
