Cross-Cultural Understandings of Leadership: Themes from Native American Interviews.
Bryant, Miles T.
Educational Management & Administration, v26 n1 p7-20 Jan 1998
Explores tentative Native American leadership values, based on interviews and field experiences with numerous tribes from the Great Plains. Identifies six themes characterizing Native American leadership values within explored tribes: decentralized leadership; the immanent value of all things; a value of respectful noninterference; a self-deflecting image projection; a reduced sense of time's importance (Indian time); and a collectivist decision-making approach.
