The Contribution of Self-Concept in the Etiology of Adolescent Delinquency.
Levy, Kenneth St. C.
Adolescence, v32 n127 p671-86 Fall 1997
Utilizes the Tennessee Self-Concept Scale to examine 230 high schoolers and juvenile offenders. Youth were categorized as nondelinquent, noninstitutionalized delinquents, and institutionalized delinquents. Results indicate a strong connection between negative self-concept and delinquency, suggesting that these two variables are tightly intertwined. Differences between nondelinquents and delinquents were evident. (RJM)
